Phoenix Drift Session and UTI

Well yesterday...kinda woke up late. So we ended up heading to UTI a little late. Got there at around 10:30 and got lucky and scored the last of the tours. For one, the place is huge, 5 football fields huge. Engines, turbos, cars, transmissions, you name it, they have that deals with cars. Got to take a couple pictures, not many though cause we had gotten there late so we had to rush our tour. It was Powerpalloza Day, which we didn't get to attend because the spots had been filled. Basically, you got to be a student for one day. There were dyno runs and a couple other things going on.

Afterwards we went job searching, didn't go so well lol.

Brad had checked the iPhone to find out there was a drift event going on that day, so we just messed around for a few hours waiting for it start. And let me tell you this, it's just so much cooler than watching any video or seeing any pictures. You just have to be there to experience the real thing.

Enjoy the pics and a video for the first time!

Las Vegas part 3

Last day on the strip, ah what a night! We ended up with brads cousin dallas, thats as far as im going with that story.

also before all of tonight, i got to eat at the Bellagio, which was AWESOME.

We went downtown to the Fremont experience, it was pretty sweet, but could have been ALOT better.

Then we headed to the Bellagio once again to watch the water show. Amazing what you can do with jets of water and some music.

Last stop was the luxor, and man that was LONG walk. We get there, and i see that levitating retarded, Criss Angel, I pull out the 70-200 and as soon as i point my camera up, a security guard ask me if i am with some press or something. I told him i wasnt, i was just some kid that likes to take pictures, he said ok thats fine. 2 seconds later he comes up to me and says, supervisor doesnt want you here with that camera. So i start to walk off, and you really think im gonna leave? no lol. I look behind me and guess whos behind me, big black raunchy security guard watching me, so he ends up escorting me out of the luxor because of my camera. So that walk was pretty pointless and long.

Las Vegas part 2

2nd ever press pass, first time ever shooting drag, so dont be hatin yall

1000 iso
no flash
1/60 to1/160

more backstage access this time...woundered if i could get a press pass to get right in front of the action, a guard said to go talk to the guy up stairs...so i walked up stairs and it ended up being the main headquarters where they control the drag stip and times. i met up with a guy named nate, he was more than happy to let me shoot out on the strip. just had to sign a release and that was it. i wont lie, vegas has some of the worst drag racers EVER. i didnt know 5 evos could go 14.5, or srt4s going 14.7, and are modded. oh well, i got to hear some extreme backfires and be right in front of the burn outs. enjoy!

Las Vegas part 1

Shooting vegas is extremely unoriginal. But ive never been here, but i will be back plenty of times to lose my money :D

Now for behind the scenes story

so we get there, we sit in grid lock traffic for over an hour in a half, HOT and sweating. it sucked. we go to the mirage then and parked in the garage where life began to suck ass. i really wanted to see the water show at the belagio, little did i know that the last show was at midnight, and we had just gotten out of the car at 11:40, it took about 30 minutes to walk there. we waited for over an hour, then i finally asked a lady and she said the last showing was a midnight. FML.

But here are some pics. go to my myspace for the full set

The ride to Vegas

Well, there's really nothing to say, it was long, boring, and i slept most the way. i guess the most exciting thing that happen was that we had to wait about 30 minutes in line on a highway because they were tearing it up and replacing it. it was pretty intense. they were making a new road as they destroyed the old one, maybe Idaho needs a lesson in that.

Ashes of Abaddon

My friend had asked me to come out to place to shoot his local hardcore band. I expected some different kind of music, but as soon as they started playing...I was hooked. They sound amazing and it sucks that they got their show canceled.
