SPOcom Adventure

So I head about this show called "SPOcom" at the Eibach Honda meet a while back. I didn't think much of it, but I started seeing what cars were going, it definitely caught my interest. My friend, Han from Intense Power had invited me out to go and of course I was all for it. Either way I love California and am always looking for an excuse to go.
It was held at the Long Beach Convention Center, an amazing place. We get there and just see tons of GTR's in the parking garage and I'm thinking to myself, this shows gotta be good. Me and Kyle get inside and first thing I notice is the lighting, and how great it was. I was planning to shoot bounce flash with a diffuser on my SB900. But looking at the results with my ridiculous 10 dollar sigma lens, it wasn't too great. The temperature was going NUTS, the background was just yellow and look horribly unprofessional. So I decided, hey might as well turn up the ISO, that's what i bought the camera for, and what do you know, worked out perfectly. The noise was quite acceptable for that lens seeing as its pretty much worthless, but with the 70-200, I was getting amazing results. I was kinda disappointed in myself for not getting next day shipping on my 50 1.4, It would have been a perfect lens for this event. I kinda laughed to myself for all the people shooting flash in such a giant building with no celling. I had peeked over the shoulders of a couple "pros" aka, people with stupid amount of gear, and their results were horrible, their backgrounds were dark looking and just doesn't look like what a 3000 dollar camera should be producing. But I really I wanted to see some photos with those really fancy Gary Fong LightSphere II. If you got a link post it!

But overall, I'm quite satisfied with the results. I love high ISO pictures, something about the coloring really strikes me. Well thanks for looking and I'll have more pics up next week!

Product Photos

I usually never use the term photo, or photography or any of those high class words, why? Because I consider those words to be of a very high caliber and people throw them around wayyyy to much and its quite annoying and makes the people that really try look dumb, so i usually say picture taker or picture etc. BUT for once in my short time of doing this stuff, I am VERY happy with these “photos”. I used a Plexiglas surface and a soft box for the products. I shot a 2 flash from the very top coming down over the box. The result is extremely pleasing, I have learned so much about lighting in a soft box, when I think I got it down, I try something new and make that early stuff look amateur. Here are the examples!

I'm Back

I really really need to get back into do this, its been forever since I've been here, but i realize i don't do much around the house, so i might as well do this! First off, I passed English with like a F+, so deal with it :) So lets just into a crash course of whats going on

Melanie B

So basically, I met this Amazing girl at the Honda meet up that I had posted a while back. Her name is Melanie Brammeier, I usually have this big rule with hanging out with the girls I take pictures of, but this was definitely a big exception. Minus the fact of being able to pose, her personality is what really struck me. It was extremely easy to communicate with her and work together. We didn’t take many pictures but I think I’m quite satisfied with the outcome. I just purchased a 50mm and this was shot with my 70 200 which requires a 5 foot minimal focal distance which is extremely hard to work in my apartment. I have no idea if me her will work together again, but she definitely has a way to go before she gets far, which I'd love to help.. but I know she has what it takes to do this. And myself, I need to get better with directing poses and what not.

on an added note, i REALLY feel like I'm getting more and more closer to that look I want, I REALLY love how her skin is glowing and how the light is wrapping around her. I can't wait to get that 50mm in the mail!
